A 6 year old girl was removed from her mother’s care simply because the mom refused to wear a mask while outside of the school grounds dropping her child off at school.
Dr. Micheline Epstein was having a typical morning as she dropped her daughter off at the Birch Wathen Lenox School on the Upper East Side of New York. Her daughter was wearing a mask as her mom hugged her goodbye and sent her into school. Next, the school nurse and school security came out of the building demanding that Dr. Epstein, who was standing on a public street, put on a mask.
When Dr. Epstein refused to put on a mask the nurse began acting aggressively towards her. Eventually Dr. Epstein left the area.
Currently Dr. Epstein is divorced from her daughter’s father and they have a joint custody agreement, however the divorce has been contemptuous.
Later on that day, Dr. Epstein received a letter from the school that was also sent to her estranged husband along with his attorney and her attorney as well. In the letter it stated that Dr. Epstein was no longer allowed to pick up or drop off her daughter from school.
The letter added fuel to the custody battle and the girl’s father asked for an emergency hearing to request full custody of his daughter which the judge granted. In addition, the court will not allow Dr. Epstein to remove her daughter from the private school despite the fact that she is working three jobs to pay for the school and the 6 attorneys she has hired to try and get her daughter back.

The only way Dr. Epstein can see her daughter is two supervised visits twice a week in her home and she must wear a mask at all times.
