Last Friday, the former “Full House” star Lori Loughlin began her two month prison sentence for her role in the college admissions scandal. Now, reports are coming in stating that she has been having a tough time dealing with her first week behind bars.
Loughlin reported to the Federal Corrections Institution, Dublin in California on Friday, and sources close to the actress have said that things have quickly gone downhill for her.
“Lori really went into prison strong, she had her faith and the support of her family, but the first few days and road ahead are daunting,” a source told US Weekly [1].
Another insider said that Loughlin, 56, has been a “wreck.”
“Lori tried her best to be brave and look at the end result but there was nothing that could dissipate her fears,” the source said. “It’s only two months but she’s dreading it. Her mind keeps telling her that something will go horribly wrong in prison or that her stay could be prolonged.”
Loughlin was sentenced to two months in prison for paying $500,000 in bribe money to have her two daughters admitted to the University of Southern California as members of the crew team, even though neither girl had ever rowed before. During her sentencing back in August, Loughlin broke down in tears as she addressed the judge.
“I went along will the plan to give my daughters an unfair advantage in the college admissions process,” she said. “In doing so, ignored my intuition and allowed myself to be swayed from my moral compass. I thought I was acting out of love for my children, but in reality, I had only undermined and diminished my daughters’ abilities and accomplishments.”
“While I wish I could go back and do things differently, I can only take responsibility and move forward,” Loughlin continued. “I have great faith in God and I believe in redemption and I will do everything in my power to redeem myself and use this experience as a catalyst to do good and give back for the rest of my life.”
A spokesman for FCI Dublin told Yahoo News [2] that Loughlin received no special treatment because of her celebrity status, which means she is in quarantine for the first fourteen days of her sentence due to the coronavirus just like any other inmate would be. If Loughlin tests positive at some point in the coming days, she will be placed in medical isolation.
