Democrats Spent $104 Million Losing To Lindsey Graham

While the election night was full of clips of President Trump and Sleepy Joe Biden, another heated race was taking place as the Democrats tried to take control of the Senate. One of those Democrats was none other than Jaime Harrison, who spent over $100 million to overthrow the Republican Lindsey Graham. The only problem – Harrison not only lost the election, but it is now known as the most expensive loss in the history of the United States Senate.

That’s right, $100 million for what? To Lose to Lindsey Graham. Apparently, this isn’t the first time a Democrats has raised record numbers only to be bested by a Republican. Before Harrison, Betty O’Rourke also raised a substantial amount of money. Over the third quarter of his campaign, O’Rourke accumulated $38 million in hopes of dethroning Republican Ted Cruz. But like most Democrats, O’Rourke underestimated his opponent and eventually backed out of the race, completely wasting fundraising monies.

According to Fox News, Harrison’s campaign spent as much as they raised trying to beat Lindsey Graham and have nothing to show for it. The News giant wrote, “Harrison has also now both raised and spent more than $100 million overall, by far the most of any Senate candidate in American history. He raked in $107.6 million in donations, but his campaign spent almost as much, doling out $104.1 million. The previous spending record was set in 2018 by Sen. Rick Scott, R-Fla., with $85 million, though much of that total was self-funded.”

Being a three-term veteran, Graham wasn’t going to take the loss sitting down. With the record numbers favoring the Democrats, Graham went on the offense, appearing on several news stations and talk radio to push his agenda. Luckily for the Republicans – it paid off as Harrison stumbled come election night.

Taking a cue from the President, Graham also took to social media to help his cause. He and most Republicans believe that the reason for the tight race between Graham and Harrison was because of the confirmation of Amy Coney Barrett. Since the death of RBG, the Democrats have cried foul as they wanted to wait till after the election to pick a new Supreme Court Justice.
