Biden Calls It An ‘Embarrassment’ That Trump Hasn’t Conceded

Joe Biden spoke out on Tuesday to say that it is an “embarrassment” that President Donald Trump has yet to concede the election to him.

“I just think it’s an embarrassment, quite frankly,” Biden said, when asked about Trump’s refusal to concede. “The only thing that — how can I say this tactfully — I think it will not help the president’s legacy.”

Since various media outlets declared Biden to be the winner over the weekend, many Republicans have declined to congratulate the Democrat as the winner, with Trump preparing to fight this in court. Biden claimed today that these Republican lawmakers are just intimidated by Trump, of course offering no evidence to back this up.

“I think that the whole Republican Party has been put in a position, with a few notable exceptions, of being mildly intimidated by the sitting president,” he said.

Biden went on to add that he plans to continue the  transition process regardless of whether or not Trump concedes, saying that he is “confident that the fact that they’re not willing to acknowledge we won at this point is not of much consequence in our planning and what we’re able to do between now and Jan. 20,” according to The Hill [3].

Biden also confessed that he has yet to talk to Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY), going on to add that he hopes to do so “in the not too distant future.”

The Democrat spoke to various foreign leaders on Tuesday, including French President Emmanuel Macron, German Chancellor Angela Merkel and United Kingdom Prime Minister Boris Johnson. When asked about these phone calls, Biden said that the leaders he had spoken to “are hopeful that the United States democratic institutions are viewed once again as being strong and enduring.”

He also expressed his belief that the American people will eventually accept him as the winner.

“I think at the end of the day, you know, it’s all going to come to fruition on Jan. 20,” Biden said. “And between now and then, the hope and expectation is that the American people do know and do understand there has been a transition.”
