Whoopi Goldberg spoke out on “The View” on Friday morning to demand that Fox News host Tucker Carlson apologize for the “nasty way” he treated last night’s debate moderator Kristen Welker.
Goldberg made this demand of Carlson despite the fact that there is no evidence that Carlson ever attacked Welker, neither on air nor in writing, according to Mediaite [1]. Despite this, Goldberg called on him to apologize to the NBC News personality at once.
“I want Fox News to apologize to Kristen for the nasty way they have been treating her before this debate,” Goldberg said. “I want them to apologize. I want Tucker Carlson to apologize to her. I want those people that sit in that four-people show to apologize to her for how they tried to really muss up the waters and talk about her like she didn’t know what she was doing.”
“You’re crazy to think they’re going to apologize because that’s just something they don’t do,” her cohost Ana Navarro said. Please don’t hold your breath because we’ll lose you.”

While many conservatives understandably feared that Welker would exhibit a bias against Donald Trump, given the fact that she was a liberal, there is no evidence that Carlson ever had a negative thing to say about her. Perhaps Goldberg should try tuning in to Carlson’s show before she demands that he apologize for things that he never did.
Despite fears about Welker going into the debate, she ended up being praised by both sides for how she handled each of the candidates. Even Trump himself paused while answering a question during the debate to tell Welker, “So far, I respect very much the way you’re handling this, I have to say.”
Even Fox News host Chris Wallace, whose performance moderating the first debate last month was widely panned, said he was “jealous” of how well Welker did.
“Well, first of all, I’m jealous,” Wallace said [9]. “I would have liked to have been able to moderate that debate and to get a real exchange of views instead of hundreds of interruptions.”
