While the Democrats continue to blame the Russians for Hillary Clinton losing the election in 2016, new evidence shows that not only Russia, but Iran have infiltrated the 2020 election and have already started spreading “Fake News”. The only difference is now their target is none other than the President himself – Donald Trump, and this time – it’s real.
Hosting a press conference, Director of National Intelligence John Ratcliffe stated that both Iran and Russia are trying, “to attempt to communicate false information to registered voters that they hope will cause confusion, sow chaos, and undermine your confidence in American democracy.” Unlike the Democrats, Ratcliffe actually has evidence of corruption.
According to Ratcliffe, Iran in particular has used social media sites like Facebook and Twitter to spread fake news and facts about President Donald Trump. Ratcliffe went on to say that their goal is to, “intimidate voters, incite social unrest, and damage President Trump.” Both countries have even obtained voter information to target certain areas.

In the video below, Ratcliffe goes into detail during his press conference on Wednesday. He said, “First, we have confirmed that some voter registration information has been obtained by Iran, and separately by Russia. This data can be used by foreign actors to attempt to communicate false information to registered voters.”
But the story doesn’t stop with just “Fake News”. Iran also sent a disturbing video showing how easy it is for them to hack into our election database. Ratcliffe said, “Iran is distributing other content to include a video that implies that individuals could cast fraudulent ballots, even from overseas.”
While the claims of countries trying to attack the election and our President are true, the video claiming to be able to hack our voting system is false according to Ratcliff. He said, “This video and any claims about such allegedly fraudulent ballots are not true. These actions are desperate attempts by desperate adversaries. Even if the adversaries pursue further attempts to intimidate or attempt to undermine voter confidence, know that our election systems are resilient and you can be confident your votes are secure.”
As for the safety of the voters, Ratcliff clarified that “Although we have not seen the same actions from Russia, we are aware that they have obtained some voter information, just as they did in 2016. Rest assured that we are prepared for the possibility of actions by those hostile to democracy.”
