It’s been a difficult and uncertain time for conservatives who have seen some of their favorite voices and leaders of liberty and justice facing medical issues.
In February of 2020, 69-year-old conservative talk show host Rush Limbaugh was diagnosed with advanced lung cancer. Since that time, he’s been fighting valiantly with a aggressive chemotherapy schedule.
Most of his listeners even know what that schedule is and that when it’s “chemo week” Limbaugh will be gone on Tuesday and plans to be back on that Thursday but sometimes it’s a day later or the next Monday. We hold our breath with worry when the guest host appears.
Limbaugh told his listeners that one of the main side effects of the treatment is the debilitating fatigue and that’s what often keeps him off of the airwaves for a few days.
Limbaugh’s initial statement about his cancer included talking about his bond with his audience and it’s obvious that he intends to stay on the air as long as he can.
Limbaugh said, “The one thing that I know, that has happened over the 31 plus years is that there has been an incredible bond that has developed between all of you and me. It is a family-type relationship to me, and I’ve mentioned to you that this program — this job — is what has provided me the greatest satisfaction and happiness that I’ve ever experienced, more than I ever thought that I would experience.”
Limbaugh is facing his diagnosis head on with courage and the strong work ethic that he has always had. He said, “It is what it is. You know me I’m the mayor of Realville so this has happened and my intention is to come here every day I can and to do this program as normally and as competently, and as expertly as I do each and every day. Because that is the source of my greatest satisfaction professionally, personally.”
Learning about Limbaugh’s diagnosis was bad enough. Then another shoe dropped.
On September 22nd, we learned that 45-year-old talk show host, Fox News contributor and former Secret Service Agent, Dan Bongino, has a tumor in his neck and was working with doctors to find out what was going on. A little while later, he was diagnosed with lymphoma [1]. He had the tumor removed a few days ago by his physicians and is looking at his choices for future treatment.
After his surgery on October 7th on Wednesday, he said, “Thank you all for your kind words & well wishes. I’m out of surgery & I feel good. They removed the entire tumor from my neck. The bad news is, it looks like lymphoma. The good news is, there are treatments options. Either way, it’ll be okay. Thank you all for your support.”
Bongino is still on the air through his daily podcast and is expected to continue with his regular working responsibilities as long as his condition and treatments allow it.
Then the third medical crisis hit conservatives.
We found out that our 74-year-old president contracted COVID-19. It appears that Trump’s aggressive preventative treatment has kept him from getting too sick and he is forging ahead with the running of the country, much to the chagrin of the leftist media, celebrities and democratic Twitter trolls.
He’s not just the Energizer Bunny. He’s Superman. He fought COVID-19 and came out of the hospital with no serious issues.
And we hope that continues.
Trump’s energy, determination and love of the United States is what we need for the next four years.
These three men are relentless commanders in the fight for freedom and justice. They are the caretakers of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.
They have in common great wives who are also strong and determined. They have loving families and friends, faith and an inner strength that will sustain them.
And they have us. We are their soldiers and if we need to pick up the slack while they fight on a new front, we will take up that mantle. We will step up our game while they concentrate on their health and recovery.
Superman had it right when he said, “I once thought I could protect the world by myself. But I was wrong. Working together, we saved the planet. And I believe that if we stay together, as a team, we would be a force that could truly work for the ideals of peace and justice.”
