Queen Elizabeth Reportedly Shut Down Harry’s Demands That Meghan Get Whatever She Want On Her Wedding Day

A new royal biography has revealed some of the turmoil that happened in the lead-up to Prince Harry’s wedding to Meghan Markle in 2018.

In his book “Battle of Brothers: William and Harry – The Inside Story of a Family in Tumult,” [1] royal expert Robert Lacey described a moment in which Harry butted heads with his grandmother, Queen Elizabeth. The exchange between the two of them happened after Harry told staffers “what Meghan wants, Meghan gets,” referring to an awkward moment in which she was told she couldn’t wear her first-choice tiara at the wedding.

This did not sit well with the Queen.

“Not for the first time, nor sadly the last, the word ‘no’ pushed a button inside him and he flew into a rage. There were dressers and flunkies present, guarding and organizing the jewels, so it was inevitable that his now-famous exclamation should find its way to the outside world—What Meghan wants, Meghan gets!” read an excerpt from the book that was obtained by the Mirror. [2]

“Her Majesty did not approve. ‘Meghan cannot have whatever she wants,’ was was reported to have replied. ‘She gets the tiara that she’s given by me,'” Lacey continued.

However, this story has since been disputed by Omid Scobie, one of the authors of the book “Finding Freedom,” which chronicles Meghan and Harry’s exodus from the British royal family.

“The tiara selection went wonderfully. The Queen was very happy, Meghan was very happy,” Scobie claimed. “In fact Meghan’s words when that story came out were ‘how sad, I love my tiara.'”

Though Scobie admitted that there was “drama” in the weeks that followed, he claimed that it had nothing to do with the Queen. Instead, he blamed the Queen’s dressmaker and close friend, alleging that she made things very difficult when it came to arranging practice fittings.

“The drama took place afterwards, when Meghan wanted to try that tiara on with her hair stylist, because there is a lot of tech that goes into this,” Scobie said. “They had to do an experiment with that before the wedding day. The hairstylist came in from overseas, there was an appointment at Buckingham Palalce, but nobody was there.”
