Melania Trump spoke out on Monday to give the American people an update about her health days after she tested positive for COVID-19 along with her husband, President Donald Trump.
“My family is grateful for all of the prayers & support! I am feeling good & will continue to rest at home,” Melania tweeted. “Thank you to medical staff & caretakers everywhere, & my continued prayers for those who are ill or have a family member impacted by the virus.”

White House officials say that Melania does not intend to leave the executive resident as she recovers from coronavirus. They added that she is so afraid of spreading the deadly virus that she would not even visit the president Walter Reed Medical Center on Saturday.
“She has COVID,” a White House official explained to NBC News [2]. “That would expose the agents who would drive her there and the medical staff who would walk her up to him.”
Another White House official told CNN [3] that Melania does not want to risk giving the virus to anyone else. She also doesn’t want to risk her own health by allowing her own diagnosis to get worse from not properly resting.
“Melania is aware of the dangers of COVID-19. Potentially exposing others is not a risk she would take,” the official said.
Trump spoke out Melania in a video message that he tweeted out on Sunday, saying that she is doing “very well.”
“Melania asked me to say something as to the respect that she has for our country, the love that she has for our country, and we’re both doing well,” Trump said, according to the Independent [4]. “Melania is really handling it very nicely, as you’ve probably read she’s slightly younger than me, just a little tiny bit.”
This comes days after it was announced that Melania and the president’s 14 year-old son Barron had tested negative for coronavirus.
“Barron has tested negative and all precautions are being taken to ensure he’s kept safe and healthy,” Melania’s chief of staff Stephanie Grisham told Daily Mail [5].
While these precautions for Barron’s safety were not specified, it’s been speculated that he could be staying with Melania’s parents, Viktor And Amalija Knavs. They live in suburban Maryland near Barron’s school, and they have often cared for him during his father’s presidency.
President Trump’s daughter Ivanka and her husband Jared Kushner, both of whom are White House advisors, tested negative as well.
“Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner were tested again today for COVID-19 and both are negative,” tweeted White House spokesperson Carolina Hurley.
