Patrick J. Adams spent years playing Meghan Markle’s love interest on the USA drama “Suits” prior to her marriage to Prince Harry, and though he attended her 2018 wedding, he now has admitted that “pure fear” is preventing him from giving her a call these days.

“Quite frankly, I think I’m intimidated,” Adams told the Radio Times. “I have no doubt I could pick up the phone and call her at any moment, but I don’t know what I would say.”

Adams explained that he had a daughter around the same time that Meghan had her 1 year-old son Archie, and that they were in touch after the births of their respective children.

“After our children were born, there were some texts sent and gifts sent, but I guess I’m a little scared,” the actor explained. “I think it’s pure fear. I guess I’m scared about the idea of breaking through whatever walls exist to have that conversation.”

After Archie was born in May of 2019, Adams took to Twitter to express his support for Meghan and Harry.

“Just heard that the world just got heavier by 7 pounds and 3 ounces. Much love to him and his incredible parents,” the actor tweeted. “Learned first hand 7 months ago how transformational becoming a parent is and couldn’t be happier for Meghan and Harry as they begin this adventure. #playdatesoon.”

Adams also said that it’s been difficult to watch the media scrutiny against Meghan.

“Knowing what’s in Meghan’s heart and knowing how compassionate she can be, it’s hard to watch because you want your friends to be left alone to build their life together,” he said.

In another interview this week, Adams said that he was “happy to have her stateside” after Meghan moved back to California earlier this year. He went on to applaud her for the work she is doing in encouraging people to vote.

“I’m very, very happy that she’s becoming very vocal and doing whatever she can to help the election in November,” he said. “I miss my friend, but I’m very happy she’s doing well.”

Meghan spent years working as an actress before marrying Harry. Though she recently signed a production deal with Netflix, it’s been reported that she has no plans to return to acting, and instead plans to work behind the camera going forward.
