Back in July, we reported that Benjamin Keough, the grandson of the legendary rock’n roll star Elvis Presley, had committed suicide at the age of 27. On Wednesday, Keough’s mother Lisa Marie Presley took to social media to post a heartbreaking tribute to her son on what would have been his 28th birthday.
“My beautiful beautiful angel, I worshipped the ground you walked on, on this earth and now in Heaven. My heart and soul went with you,” she wrote alongside a photo of Keough blowing out candles on a birthday cake. “The depth of the pain is suffocating and bottomless without you every moment of every day. I will never be the same.”
“Please wait for me my love, and hold my hand while I stay to continue to protect and raise your little sisters and to be here for Riley,” she added in her first post since his death. “I know you would want that.”

Keough’s sister, the actress Riley Keough, also posted a birthday tribute to her late brother.
“Happy Birthday beautiful angel,” she captioned a photo of the two of them.

After Keough’s suicide, a representative for Lisa Marie told Entertainment Tonight that she was “completely heartbroken, inconsolable and beyond devastated but trying to stay strong for her 11-year-old twins and her oldest daughter, Riley.”
“She adored that boy. He was the love of her life,” the rep added.
Keough’s close friend Brandon Howard said after his death that the 27 year-old felt pressure to live up to his family name, adding that he believes this “absolutely” contributed to his suicide.
“It’s a tough thing when you have a lot of pressure with your family and living up to a name and an image. It’s a lot of pressure,” Howard said. “It’s almost like you’re pressured into having to be a musician, having to be an actor. It was good for him to go around the world and discover himself and have his own friends. You never know what triggers it. You never know … It’s so random.”
