Fans of “Saturday Night Live” were stunned when the very popular Leslie Jones left the show after the 2019 season. Now, Jones is speaking out to say that she does not miss appearing on the NBC sketch comedy show.

“I don’t miss it. At all,” Jones, 53, told Entertainment Tonight. “That job was hard, man. That job was like two jobs and very restrictive, too. I wasn’t very free there.”

Jones started out as a writer on “Saturday Night Live,” making her debut onscreen in May of 2014. By 2016, she had been promoted a repertory player, and she left the show three years later after 105 episodes.

“Yes, it’s true I am leaving Saturday Night Live. I cannot thank NBC, the producers, writers, and amazing crew enough for making SNL my second home these last five years,” Jones wrote on Instagram after leaving the program. “Lorne Michaels, you’ve changed my life in so many ways! Thank you for being my mentor and confidant and for always having my back.”

Jones has found success since leaving “Saturday Night Live,” appearing in movies like The Angry Birds Movie 2 and Coming 2 America. These days, she’s hosting the new revival of the classic game show “Supermarket Sweep.”

“It’s just, you know, a comedian’s dream come true,” she said of the hosting gig.

Jones explained that while there is not much different about the new version of “Supermarket Sweep” compared to the old one, she added that they made the games harder and plan to give away more money.

“We have a lot of bonuses, we’re giving money away to essential workers every week,” Jones said.

She added that the biggest change relates to the monotone, primary colored sweaters the contestants had to wear during the sweep.

“I let the contestants design their own sweatshirts this time, so you will see a whole bunch of different versions and styles,” Jones said, adding that the whole experience of watching is “exciting and bright and funny.”

For Jones, being on “Supermarket Sweep” was a lifelong dream.

“When you see the carts and you see the game play and you go, ‘Oh, OK and I’m hosting it. Oh, this is fun!’” Jones said with a smile.
