Fans of the Hollywood star Jeff Bridges of The Big Lebowski fame are praying for him this week after he announced that he has been diagnosed with lymphoma.
“As the Dude would say.. New S**T has come to light,” Bridges tweeted, referring to his iconic Big Lebowski character.
“I have been diagnosed with Lymphoma,” the Oscar-winner added. “Although it is a serious disease, I feel fortunate that I have a great team of doctors and the prognosis is good. I’m starting treatment and will keep you posted on my recovery.”

Bridges, 70, did not provide any further details about his diagnosis.
The Associated Press [4] reported that Bridges has long been considered to be Hollywood royalty, as he is the son of stars Lloyd and Dorothy Bridges, both of whom died in 1998. He has been nominated for seven Academy Awards, winning one in 2010 for Crazy Heart. He was most recently nominated for his work in the 2016 movie Hell Or High Water.
The American Cancer Society [5] (ACS) reported symptoms vary depending on the type of lymphoma. The ACS stated that these are the main symptoms you need to look out for when it comes to Hodgkin Lymphoma:
- An enlarged lymph node, that appears as a lump in the neck, under the arm, or in the groin. The lump might get bigger over time, or new lumps might appear near it or in other parts of the body.
- Fever
- Drenching night sweats
- Unexplained weight loss
- Itching skin
- Fatigue
- Loss of appetite
- Cough
- Trouble breathing
- Chest pain
Here are the main symptoms of non-Hodgkin lymphoma:
- Enlarged lymph nodes
- Chills
- Weight loss
- Fatigue (feeling very tired)
- Swollen abdomen (belly)
- Feeling full after only a small amount of food
- Chest pain or pressure
- Shortness of breath or cough
- Severe or frequent infections
- Easy bruising or bleeding
- Fever
- Drenching night sweats
- Unexplained weight loss
“For some types of lymphoma which tend to be slower growing, the diagnosis may be made incidentally during the course of care or testing for other medical conditions,” explained David Bond, M.D. [6], a hematologist who specializes in lymphoma at The Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center – Arthur G. James Cancer Hospital and Richard J. Solove Research Institute.
