Florida Republican Governor and Trump ally Mike DeSantis Friday flung open the doors of normalcy for his state, putting an end to the public health hoax in Florida that has destroyed so many businesses and family incomes.

But as soon as he annihilated the narrative, the press went after him. CNN chief medical correspondent Dr. Sanjay Gupta, said the nation is “nowhere near containment” and said the part of DeSantis’ order that does not allow local governments to collect fines for not wearing face masks in public is “unthinkable.” Yeah, Sanjay loves government coercion.

“These are all the wrong sort of decisions as far as actually trying to bring this pandemic under control,” Gupta insisted, worrying that if too many people come to understand the leftist media scam that has been run for months on the subject, Biden could lose the election.

NPR dutifully reported, “Broward County Mayor Dale Holness told NPR member station WLRN on Friday, ‘We’re hoping that the governor will allow us to have deeper restrictions than the rest of the state. We have a greater spread of the virus in South Florida than other parts of the state’…Miami-Dade officials said they were still assessing what the order means for the county. Mayor Carlos Giménez told The Miami Herald that he believed the county would still be able to enforce its face covering mandate but ‘will have to speak to our attorneys about [our] ability to enforce individual fines.’ ” They are not happy about losing the fines, not one bit.

Politico reported, sticking to the script, “The Florida Democratic Party’s chairwoman, Terri Rizzo, accused Trump and DeSantis of ignoring science, issuing bad messages during a pandemic and presiding over an ‘unmitigated disaster…We all desperately want things to return back to normal, but that can’t happen when DeSantis and Trump have no plan to get us out of this public health crisis,’ Rizzo said.”

DeSantis hit back, “We never closed down over the summer…We have been open. The final piece to the puzzle was this capacity limitation on the restaurants at 50%. So that was the announcement today that brought that in for a landing. A lot of those folks in that industry have had a really, really rough time…We have to have a situation where individuals can make decisions about what makes sense for them…If it’s something you are not comfortable doing, nobody will force you to do it. But I think people need to be free to choose.”
