It doesn’t take someone with a doctorate in sociology to do the numbers and see that, almost without exception, the worst-run and most crime-ridden cities in America are governed by Democrats.

Once upon a time in America, machine Democrats like Mayor Daley of Chicago —a personal hero of mine for the good pranging he gave filthy counterculture types at the 1968 Democratic Convention in the Windy City— knew how to do three things: steal elections, suck up to unions, and keep law and order. Ok, granted, they may have had a bit too much fun at times on the law and order front, but the alternative was worse.

Well, now the 1968 street scum are Democrat mayors in most major cities, the Daleys are gone, and the nation is suffering accordingly. For decades after the fall of these Archie Bunker Democrat machines, liberal Democrat mayors have been coddling and excusing the actions of criminals, preferring to focus on the “root causes” of crime. It recalls a line from George Will, “When you hear an intruder in your living room at 3am, you don’t call the police and ask them to come over and address the root causes.”

The prognosis for law and order in America? According to Louisiana Attorney General Jeff Landry, it’s only going to get worse.

Says Landry, “When I became attorney general back in 2016, one of the first things that we tackled was we took a very proactive fight against crime. I predicted four and five years ago that this country was headed towards an extreme violent crime outbreak, that it was going to become an epidemic… I called that. And this thing is something that’s been building, and has only been heightened by this particular lawlessness. I do believe that there’s a tipping point that’s coming in this country because I believe that every violent crime creates an exponential number of victims.” Any remedy? “I can tell you that defunding the police is certainly not an answer,” he said.

And per the leftist charge that racism is at the core of our justice system? Landry comments, “If there’s systemic racism in Chicago or in Minnesota, then that means Democrats are responsible for that systemic racism because they have been in control, they have been running those cities and those police departments for decades now.”

Is there anything on the national scene that promises hope? Landry opined that Joe Biden and Kamala Harris are the most liberal nominees “that have ever been placed before the American voter in the history of this country.” Under their rule, crime around America will resemble New York and Chicago today and Antifa and Black Lives Matter will take cities hostage until their radical anarchist and racist demands are met. Landry also understands the hypocrisy of the current Democrat playbook on mail-in voting.

Too many Americans don’t realize the extent of the consequences of a Biden win. Landry does and President Trump does. By either complacent confirmation bias or political lethargy, too many voters, even GOP voters, are blindly walking off a cliff. At the bottom lies the broken dreams that were once America.
