Part of Kamala Harris’ speech at the Democratic National Convention where she accepted the nomination to be Vice President included her talking about her experience in the courtroom and how she fought for the people.
She actually had the nerve to talk about how she fought for children and survivors of sexual assault and she said, “I know a predator when I see one.”
What a joke.
She touts her fight on behalf of victims of child abuse when she was a prosecutor just out of law school but when it came to going after an institution that could bring down her political career, the Catholic church and their supporters, she refused to do anything [1].
In the book “Profiles in Corruption” by Peter Schweizer, you will find that Harris, after sleeping her way into politics by hooking up with well-connected then San Francisco Mayor married Willie Brown, was all about furthering her career by protecting her donors and Willie Brown’s friends. She was all about power and the almighty dollar that she needed to keep and accelerate that power.
One of the many things she did to keep the donation money rolling in was to protect pedophile priests.
When Harris was District Attorney of San Francisco (2004-2011) and the Attorney General of California (2011-2017), there were plenty of sex abuse scandals coming to light all over the country having to do with priests abusing children. Many in the criminal justice system were trying to bring these pedophiles to justice.
But not Harris.
The atrocities that were going on in San Francisco and the state of California would be ignored.
Harris wouldn’t have any of it. She had friends with deep pockets to protect [2].
She didn’t prosecute one case against a pedophile priest even though her predecessor, the DA of San Francisco, Terence Hallinan, had compiled a plethora of information to prosecute the pedophile priests – cases that he intended to pursue if he had won the election against Harris.
He had gotten documents from the Archdiocese that listed at least 40 current and past priests who were accused of sex crimes. Although there was a statute of limitations on past crimes, Hallinan was compiling information on current abuses and working on getting the documents released to the public.
And somehow, those documents all seemed to have disappeared after the Harris reign.
A FOIA for the records in 2010 resulted in her office denying the request for the release of the records, with no explanation other that the office “could not provide them.” Then in 2019, Schweitzer requested the records and was told that the San Francisco District Attorney’s office no longer had them in their possession.
Gee, how shocking.
For years, Harris refused to release the records of the abuses by the priests that were in her office because she said she was protecting the victims.
BS.
That wasn’t an issue. Hallinan had made a deal to redact the victim’s names to protect them because the victims wanted the information about the abuse to be public.
Schweizer’s book states that victims’ groups wanted the documents released and “Harris was stopping it.”
The victims were outraged by what she was doing. She wasn’t protecting victims, they said. There was a cover-up to protect the abusers by keeping their alleged crimes secret.
Northwest Regional Director of Survivor Network of Those Abused by Priests (SNAP), Joey Piscitelli, said of Harris and her office, “They’re full of s–t. You can quote me on that. They’re not protecting the victims.”
Harris was much more interested in protecting the sexual predators so she could move up the political ladder with the help of much needed support from the Catholic church and their supporters. She was getting high dollar donations from those connected to the Catholic church.
The Catholics in the Bay area had helped Harris win her district attorney’s seat in San Francisco. There were other friends who she had to protect like her buddies the Getty family and California Governor Jerry Brown who were alumni of the St. Ignatius College Preparatory School in the Archdiocese of San Francisco.
Harris’ whole political career, which only began because she slept with Brown, included years and years of protecting her and Brown’s political friends in all of their corrupt deeds – and keeping the money flowing so that they could win elections.
Lots of money was rolling into Harris’ campaign from people connected to the Catholic church and she couldn’t let them down.
Not having her own ties to the Catholic Church, it was obvious why they were sending her donations.
She got donations from Catholic board members (and family) of many organizations in the Bay area.
She got donations from the attorney for the Catholic Charities division of the Archdiocese.
She got donations from the attorney of a priest involved in an abuse case. This particular lawyer was also on Kamala Harris’s advisory council.
No impropriety there, right?
Nothing to see here, folks.
Harris’ refusal to prosecute pedophile priests is just one of many things she did to get to where she is today. She has become the democratic Vice Presidential candidates on the backs of child sex abuse victims.
She’s an opportunist who will do whatever she can to attain power, the very definition of what a democrat is.
Victims be damned.
