War crime indictments against him and other former Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA) fighters are part of 21-year-long efforts to undermine KLA’s legacy and Kosovo people’s fight for freedom and statehood, President Thaçi has stated upon returning from his interview with prosecutors in The Hague.
In a statement [1] on Saturday, Thaçi stressed three points:
– The history of KLA’s war and Kosovo’s independence and statehood cannot be rewritten; at the end of the process they will become clearer for all.
– The expected trials are a continuation of 21 years of accusations, slander and fabrications against the KLA and Kosovo people’s efforts for freedom and a state. The process will once and for all seal the historic role of the KLA for the independent and democratic state of Kosovo.
– Thaçi is more determined to take his personal efforts and sacrifice further in defending his country.
Last week, President Thaçi was interviewed for 4 days [2] by prosecutors of the Kosovo Specialist Prosecutor’s Office in The Hague regarding a war crime indictment against him.
