The nation is growing more and more divided over the death of Mr. George Floyd.
While I was horrified after hearing what Mr. Floyd did to that pregnant woman, that case has no bearing on the fact that no human being should have another human being kneeling on their neck. It’s awful and I can’t stress enough how strongly I support changing those policies and procedures.
With that said, Mr. Floyd’s death is not a reason to cancel pancake syrup, TV shows, rip down statues, burn cities, or rehire a lousy former quarterback.
We always do this – the country goes completely hysterical and reacts to an incident with all of these over-emotional responses and never addresses the real issues at hand.
And here we are again…The NFL has now green-lit the “anthem kneeling” that drove so many of their fans away – as if somehow Mr. Floyd’s death justifies kneeling during our anthem and turning sports into insufferable social justice activism hour.
It’s like there’s no escape from the left’s activism. Every single thing is politicized. Sports, kids shows, commercials, school, church, everything.
These corporations and organizations are so out of touch with the “silent majority.” They truly believe the mob speaks for everyone.
They couldn’t be more wrong.
But, right on cue – former NFL quarterback Colin Kaepernick is back on the NFL radar – not because he’s a great quarterback who has earned his place in the league – but because he’s an activist.
The Los Angeles Chargers are eyeing Colin and will have him suit-up for the workout.
The coach went so far as to say that he wants Colin on his team.
Los Angeles Chargers coach Anthony Lynn told reporters Wednesday that free agent Colin Kaepernick fits the style of quarterback he wants on his team and revealed Kaepernick is on the team’s “workout list.”
Lynn said his team does not have plans yet to work out Kaepernick, but did not shut the door on trying him out.
“I haven’t spoken with Colin, not sure where he’s at as far in his career, what he wants to do, but Colin definitely fits the style of quarterback for the system that we’re going to be running,” Lynn said. “I’m very confident and happy with the three quarterbacks that I have but you can never have too many people waiting on the runway.”
I have a feeling the NFL will be feeling a very strong backlash when the new season starts.
Clearly, they haven’t learned anything.
It’s not that their fan base doesn’t care about issues – it’s that they don’t want issues to be a part of their sports.
