Fans of the longtime Fox News host Sean Hannity are in shock today after it was revealed that he has divorced his wife Jill Rhodes, who he was married to for over 20 years.
Page Six [1] reported that Hannity, 58, and Rhodes, a 57 year-old former journalist, had been married since 1993 and had two children together. Friends of the couple said that they have actually been divorced for over a year, but that they have managed to keep it under wraps until now.
Rumors of their split only began to swirl in the lead-up to the coronavirus pandemic, when Rhodes was not seen at various Fox News events with Hannity. When asked about the situation, Hannity and Rhodes issued the following joint statement:
“Sean and Jill are committed to working together for the best interests of their children. Amicable agreements were entered into over four years ago between Sean and Jill. They maintain a close relationship as parents to their children. Neither will have any further comments and ask for the sake of their children that their privacy be respected.”
One friend of the ex-couple, who spent years living on Long Island, said that the divorce “is very amicable. Sean and Jill remain on very good terms and still have family dinners, and attend tennis tournaments for their children. Sean is still close with members of Jill’s family.”
The source went on to add that neither of them have been involved with anyone else since the split, explaining that “Sean is basically a workaholic.”
Hannity had previously described Rhodes as the brains behind his success, even dedicating his first book “Let Freedom Ring: Winning the War of Liberty Over Liberalism” to her back in 2002.
“The most important acknowledgment I make is to my family — my wife, Jill, and my two children, Patrick and Kelly, to whom I dedicate this book,” he wrote at the time, according to US Weekly [2]. “They are the ones who put up with the long work hours I needed to invest in this project. They are the ones who make it worth doing — and who make my life complete and happy on more levels than I can explain. I am blessed to have them in my life.”
