There is absolutely no love lost between the royal sisters-in-law Kate Middleton and Meghan Markle.

As a matter of fact, all the rumors you hear about these two women not liking each other are true…and it started over a pair of pantyhose, of all things.

It was Meghan’s wedding day and she didn’t want her bridesmaids to wear pantyhose (they call them “tights” in England), but Kate, wanting to be respectful to the Queen believed the pantyhose we’re the right option.

An argument ensued and in the end, the bridesmaids went barelegged, and that show of disrespect to “Royal customs” is what started the feud between the two women.

From Daily Mail

‘There was an incident at the wedding rehearsal,’ the source said. ‘It was a hot day and apparently there was a row over whether the bridesmaids should wear tights or not. Kate, following protocol, felt that they should. Meghan didn’t want them to.’

Photographs from the ceremony at St George’s Chapel, Windsor, suggest Meghan won the argument, because they appear to show the six bridesmaids with bare legs. It is worth noting that pictures from Prince William and Kate’s wedding in 2011 show her bridesmaids wearing tights.

Such petty domestic disputes disrupt many a wedding of course. And as for tights, well that is the royal way. Had Kate intervened as the article suggests, say friends, it would have been not just because she knew that tights look neater but also as a mark of respect to the Queen. Certainly there have been previous reports of disagreements between the two duchesses over wedding day outfits, with one claim that Kate, who had not long given birth to Prince Louis, had been reduced to tears after an encounter with Meghan.

Middleton family friends have always denied the tears story but have also acknowledged that the relationship between the two women has not been easy.

All the same, they do not recognise Tatler’s assertion that the Duchess of Cambridge had ‘sought the opportunity to put Meghan in her place, reprimanding her for speaking imperiously to Kensington Palace staff’.

What is undeniable is that the arrival of Meghan upset the dynamics of the then close relationship that existed between William, Harry and Kate.

The pantyhose debate was just the tip of the iceberg for these two women.

The article goes on to say that friends recall when the two famous royal couples sat down and did a “sofa interview” about their charitable plans, and Kate actually flinched as Meghan spoke with total confidence.

This moment defined their dynamic. One woman hell-bent on changing things up and doing stuff her way, the other woman offended that her offers of help and guidance are being ignored and mocked.

The story goes on to say that Kate is also resentful of Meghan because after she decided to up and leave, her duties have increased as she’s trying to make up for a missing piece to the puzzle.

That would explain why there was so much hostility when Meghan joined Harry in the UK for the final Royal “goodbye tour.”

Also, prior to Meghan coming into the picture, Harry treated Kate like a “sister.”

Since Meghan however, that relationship has changed and soured.
