‘Star Wars’ Star Mark Hamill Calls For Michelle Obama To Be Named As VP By 2020 Democrats

By Daniel M | February 26, 2020

Star Wars actor Mark Hamill, known for playing Luke Skywalker in the popular films, is now calling on 2020 Democrats to name Michelle Obama as their vice presidential picks.

“I hope whoever becomes the Democratic presidential nominee will consider Michelle Obama as their running mate,” tweeted Hamill, who frequently attacks President Donald Trump on social media.

The tweet immediately went viral, garnering over 12.8K likes in just over four hours. This just goes to show that Democrats are still desperate to have Michelle throw her hat into this race in some way, despite the 56 year-old’s first lady’s repeated claims that she has no interest in politics.

Last summer, as calls were mounting for Michelle to run for president, she said that there was “zero chance” that she would ever run.

“Just between us, and the readers of this magazine — there’s zero chance,” Michelle told The National [5] about the chances that she’d run. “There are so many ways to improve this country and build a better world, and I keep doing plenty of them, from working with young people to helping families lead healthier lives. But sitting behind the desk in the Oval Office will never be one of them. It’s just not for me.”

Michelle made these comments after filmmaker Michael Moore effectively begged her to run, saying that she is the only person who can beat Trump.

“Everybody watching this right now knows she is a beloved American and she would go in there and she would beat him,” Moore said [7]. “She would beat him in the debates, he wouldn’t be able to bully her, he wouldn’t be able to nickname her. She takes the stage and she’s so powerful and so good you just look at that and think of course she could win.”

Michelle had previously told late night talk show host Jimmy Kimmel a year before that a presidential run for herself isn’t something she’d ever consider.

“I haven’t had any serious conversations with anyone about it because it’s not something that I’m interested in or would ever do,” she said [8]. “Ever.”

Though Michelle has repeatedly said that she will never run for president, she has never mentioned what she would do if she were asked to run as someone’s Vice President.
