First Lady Melania Trump receives a fair deal of criticism because left-wingers despise her husband, President Donald Trump. So it was a welcome rarity when the First Lady received a major award from a prominent university in Florida.
According to TIME Magazine, Mrs. Trump is set to be recognized by Palm Beach Atlantic University as its 2020 “Woman of Distinction.” The university typically selects two women each year, who have contributed to the community–but this year, Mrs. Trump will be the sole recipient. She will be at the university in-person on February 19 to receive the aware.
The luncheon’s co-chairwoman Eileen Burns told reporters, “Our first lady is an exquisite human being, a magnificent wife and life partner, a superb mother and an outstanding first lady.”
Frances Fisher, another co-chairwoman for the event at the private Christian university, added, “First ladies define the history of our country. We are honored to recognize Mrs. Trump as a Woman of Distinction and the only first lady since Mrs. Kennedy to be a Palm Beach resident. This will be a truly memorable event.”
The Trumps left Manhattan and changed their primary residence to Palm Beach, Florida late last year. Trump owns a large resort, Mar-a-Lago, in the area.
Mrs. Trump has been laser focused on her “Be Best” campaign, which she launched in 2018. The goal of the effort is to combat online bullying and opioid drug abuse. The First Lady has travelled all across the United States, and even to some different countries, to promote Be Best.
Despite her efforts to make an impact, Mrs. Trump has faced harsh criticisms from her husband’s political enemies, as well as those in the mainstream media.
