Samuel L. Jackson
The actor who brought together the Avengers as super-spy Nick Fury is not shy about his gun ownership at all. Jackson revealed in 2016 that he did, indeed, own weapons to protect his home, and if anyone tried to break into his house, he’d say, “Get the f*ck out of my house. I have a gun.” He then described that, if the intruders attempted to persist, “a big tongue of fire will come out of the end of this weapon.” He also advocated for the Second Amendment by describing the tension in 1963 after John F. Kennedy’s assassination. “In my black community, everybody was loading their guns because we were just sure that, OK, they killed Kennedy, the Klan is coming for us,” he said.
Clint Eastwood
Known for westerns and his anti-hero officer, Dirty Harry, it would be easy to suspect that actor Clint Eastwood is entirely pro-gun. After all, he did say that “I have a very strict gun control policy. If there is a gun around, I want to be in control of it.” However, he also believes in gun control. “I’ve always supported a certain amount of gun control. I think it’s very important that guns don’t get in the wrong hands; it’s very important to keep them out of the hands of felons or anyone who might be crazy with it.” He’s also known for telling a story where a woman lists to a police officer the many guns she has in her car. “And he says, ‘my God woman, what are you afraid of?’ and she says, ‘freakin’ nothing,'” Eastwood said while accepting an award. “That sort of sums up my gun control.”
Ben Affleck
While Batman doesn’t carry (intentionally) deadly weapons, the man currently playing the Caped Crusader certainly does. In an interview with Bill Maher, the two liberals discussed protecting their homes, and how, “In California, anyway, you can shoot an intruder in your home.” Maher asked Affleck about owning guns, to which the two-time Oscar-winning actor, director, and screenwriter said, “I do.” Maher responded, “So do I, and for that exact reason … I’m not disarming unilaterally.”
